A Mid-Winter Gathering of Fun and Frolic, for Steampunks and like minded people. Tickets available at the door!

Already into Steampunk? Have that one friend who is interested but may be nervous about trying it out? New to Steampunk and just want to see? Then this is the Convention for you.

If you are already into Steampunk, we all have that one friend who is interested but wants to see what it is like, bring them! If you are interested in Steampunk but are a bit nervous about what all it entails, don't have a costume, or a character? This convention you can feel free to come as you are, sit in on some panels and classes about what Steampunk is all about, Costuming, and Character development, and so much more! If you really like what you see you can shop the vendors for fun finds from costumes, to accessories, to trinkets. Meet some of the area groups! Talk to representatives in a meet and greet and see if you want to join them in their fun! We are all about the fun of it, trying it out, and getting your feet wet with fun activities!

What is Steampunk? “Steampunk” is a creative revival from the Victorian Era through WWII, with some American Wild West thrown in. Modern technology is re-imagined such that everything that uses electricity today is powered by steam instead. Old ideas and objects are recreated making them function without the benefit of our modern power grids. Steampunk participants dress in costumes from the Civil War era on through the Rosie the Riveters of the 1940's. It appeals to many different people who wish to create an alternative to their everyday lives by going back in time to alternative worlds, traveling in magnificent “air ships” and participating as a part of a larger group for events and fun. These ideas evolved from the works of famous authors like H.G. Wells and Jules Verne often with inventions, made not so famous, by Nikola Tesla.

What is the Geneva Steam Convention about? This event is a Mid-Winter Carnival. It will be a place where people of all ages can travel from all around the Midwest to enjoy winter games both indoors and out, High Teas, a Grand Ball and shopping! This is not a full immersion event with story lines, and actors, but just about being on vacation and enjoying people. At a time when winter is taking its toll, we bring you a one weekend convention filled with games, music, laughter, arts and activities.
