Welcome to the Chicago Steampunk Exposition!
(From the official website) Through methods of forgotten science we have found a way to transport you to the hidden wing of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition that has until now been lost in time!
We present to you, Chicago, North America, and the World, a three day Steampunk festival on September 27th, 28th, & 29th, 2019 at the Westin O’Hare that celebrates the history of a future that never was . . .
New to Steampunk?
The term Steampunk was first used lightheartedly in April 1987 by American author KW Jeter to describe an emerging literary genre that had the edginess of Cyberpunk but with the style, setting, and technology of the Victorian Era. While the name Steampunk was coined in the late 1980’s, the genre itself dates back to the actual 1800’s with the imaginations of authors such as Jules Verne and HG Wells, and today we have fun and folly with a vision of a future that neverwas.
The Steampunk genre’s style has found its way into books, comics, films, music, art, games, fashion, and other aesthetic expressions, but in the early years of the 21st century all of this began to evolve into organized communities of Steampunk enthusiasts, and on September 27th, 28th, & 29th, 2019, the Chicago Steampunk Expo brings it all together for a delightful weekend of Victorian mirth and magic!
What to Expect at the Expo?
Starting in afternoon of Friday, September 27th, and not ending until the early evening of Sunday, September 29th, the Chicago Steampunk Expo offers a family friendly Program filled with entertainment, exhibits, vendors, presenters, games, and much more. Whether you come for one day, or immerse yourself in the full weekend experience, there is a wide variety of Steampunk and Victorian themed things to do and see.
